    Thank you for this video I supposed to come near to get my teeth done. I have some negative energy around me stating that it's not safe for me to go there by myself. I'm so over the negative energy. Can you give me the name of that Uber driver? Thank you very much. I don't speak much Spanish at all. But the negative energy around me is just way too much.I enjoyed the video cause it was really positive

      That's great to hear! I'm glad you liked the video. Most drivers tend to be pretty friendly. Uber and Didi seem to be good options. I hope you have a safe trip and I'm happy to hear you're staying positive. A lot of people like to give unsolicited advice, and many folks just spend their time watching the news without actually experiencing things for themselves. Colombia is generally pretty safe, but as with any country, it's important to use common sense and stick to the main areas.

    I live in Guadalajara. You feature a couple of the nicest parts of GDL in this video...I would like to say that 98% of this city is an absolute dump. Great place to visit. There are many fun things to see and do. But living here, which I've been doing for 5 years, is a challenge. I could go into detail, but that would make for a very long comment.

    • @robbiemoore-coaching
      @robbiemoore-coaching 25 днів тому

      I'm open to listening to your story. Please feel free to share, as I'm genuinely interested to learn more. I really enjoy visiting GDL, but you make a fair point that I tend to prefer shorter vacations. There's just something special about the vibe I get in GDL, though. It has a bit of a Western cultural feel, which makes me especially grateful for the strong sense of connection I experience here in Colombia. I'd be happy to hear more about your thoughts and experiences as well.

    • @papigringo5692
      @papigringo5692 25 днів тому

      @@robbiemoore-coaching I'd rather keep it short; I've made similar comments in the past and when I go into the WHOLE thing, it becomes tiresome for me and for anyone reading. Suffice to say I have had many, many bad experiences here. I do also recognize that I have been extremely unlucky to have some of those; for example, a couple of years ago a drug junkie that lived next door to me lost her marbles and tried to murder me with a gun. Could've happened to anyone, but it happened to me. The point I would most like to make-- and it does tie in with the attempted murder I just mentioned-- is that México is practically a lawless nation. The government absolutely does not function. In the case of what happened to me, it means that literally nothing was done about a person firing a gun into my bedroom window as I slept. But let's forget about that as I tell you what else a non-functioning government means. It means an infrastructure that is constantly falling apart. Just a few weeks ago one of the main highways that crosses the city completely caved in due to rain (Lopez Mateos, you may have heard of it). It means a homelessness situation that is out of control. It means both violent and petty crime are completely rampant; from purse-snatching to drug-dealing to confidence scams to muggings and killings. These things are out of control because an apathetic government does nothing about them. Anyone who does find himself face-to-face with the authorities can quickly solve his problems with a small bribe. Things that may seem insignificant also turn into big problems because of the general anarchy. Casual littering is something I see literally every day. Someone's done drinking their Coca-Cola-- they just toss the bottle. Wherever it lands, fine. And you can drive or walk around the city, far from the Cathedral and Avenida Chapultepec, and just see trash EVERYWHERE. Lastly, the traffic. It's bad enough in any big city. But in a big city where there are no consequences for anything, people just do what they want. There may as well be no signs, no stoplights, and no lines. They don't matter. Motorcyclists are an absolute menace. When there's too much traffic on the road, they take to the sidewalks, pedestrians be damned. I think I opened with something about "keeping this short". I kinda knew that wouldn't happen. I'm not some flag-waving, patriotic American. I have a genuine love of "capital C" Culture. México is quite rich with Culture. The art, the literature, the music, the architecture, the culinary delights, the varied and gorgeous geography, the unique history of México...all of this is beautiful. I've seen folkloric dance performances whose exquisite beauty brought me to the edge of tears. And Guadalajara is considered by many (including me) to be the Cultural Heart of México. "Small-c" culture, I define as what's going on right now. And in terms of "small-c" culture, Guadalajara is in complete decadence. I imagine I will get some brainiacs telling me to just leave if I don't like it here. It happens every time I make this sort of comment. I can't leave. The reasons for that are personal and I won't share them. So I'm trying to make the best of it here in this chaotic place. Like I said, it's a great place to visit. Lots to do, lots to see, and a tourist can generally avoid the grosser parts of this city. But I would caution anyone who is considering moving here long-term. And-- forgive me, for I mean no disrespect by this-- I tend to scoff when people speak of how beautiful and awesome Guadalajara is. I've seen every side of it, and most sides ain't pretty.

I loved it I remember when we landed it was so beautiful and green. I thought Mexico City was nice, but it reminded me of back home in Los Angeles. I have a niece who just came back from GDL. and she loved it. She went with her boyfriend, who has family there. She showed me pictures and I cannot believe how much it has grown. They both said there are many Hi-Tech companies out there. They want to buy a house out there because California is too expensive to live. I said I will go visit you often.
